I was invited to check this book out for a tour, so join me as I take you into the world of Adam Orser…
Adam Orser: The Chronicles of Evolution
But there is nothing ordinary about Adam.
Fate interrupts his planned marriage proposal, and a serious car accident thrusts him into a metaphysical reality behind a deep coma that holds his physical body in check. Through an advanced system of training and evolution created by the celestial realm, Adam is called to a dangerous mission with profound implications for the world he knows, and life and death consequences for one missing nine-year old girl, who is no ordinary kidnapped child. Fantastical forces are at work on both sides of the veil between the world we recognize and those yet to be discovered.
Destiny compels Adam to freely choose the part he will play in a no-limits competition between good and evil. Questions of existence, causality, and truth converge as Adam struggles to find his way back to Jazmin and a life that will never be the same.
What I Thought
As you can see from the synopsis, this is quite the interesting read. I was reminded of The Dead Zone series from a few years back where Johnny Smith ends up gaining psychic abilities after an accident that leaves him comatose.
Unlike that series, Orser didn’t spend years in a coma and fight against his new reality. Instead, Orser embraces the strange new world he finds himself in and what it means for his future. The book delves into the issue of free will and our soul’s quest for perfection and knowledge. He’s put through a series of tests to prepare him for the task to come.
Overall, I found Aramond’s style very engaging and felt he created some wonderful characters. I liked the almost child-like enthusiasm Adam would display for his new role to play at times. Detective Louis Collins was another fun character in this story. I loved his attitude and steadfast determination to solve the kidnapping of young Judy. He’s one of those kinds of Detective characters who knows that sometimes you need to bend the rules a little to get something done. Even the celestial beings showed a bit of a sense of humor from time to time showing that, in Armand’s world, fun isn’t reserved merely for the mortals of the universe. I’m curious to see where he’s taking the world he built here in the future and how Orser is going to handle living back in the mortal world now that so much has changed for him.
