Taylor’s released her latest video for “I Knew You Were Trouble”. The track appears on her new album, Red. Check out the video for the song and then scroll down for some thoughts on it.
Okay, I admit the first two minutes of that was torture. I am not really a fan of dialogue in videos anyway, so a drawn out monologue was not fun.
Things got much better once the monologue was done. This is possibly the most pop song she’s done yet. When I was listening to it yesterday, CP pointed out that it sounded like something Rhianna or Britney would do. I have to say I agree. Fortunately for me, I’m a big fan of cheesy pop 🙂
The lyrics aren’t bad. They detail a relationship gone horribly wrong (this is a Taylor song) and the character’s realization she should’ve known all along it would end that way. Her vocals are good; it seems Taylor’s been working on that in the wake of a few heavily criticized performances in recent years. I think my favorite part of the whole song is the chorus. It’s so catchy, I want to download a copy of the song and blare it in the car. It was also nice to hear something a little more grown-up from her in the wake of her first single, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. What do you guys think? Do you like the new song? Think Taylor should stick to more country-style material? Comment and let’s chat about it…

Yeah, “We Are Never, Ever Getting Back Together” was making me want to pass on this one, but the last two singles are pretty good. Might have to get it as well.

I haven’t got the new one yet. The first single kind of scared me. LOL.
Speak Now definitely had some great track. I love “Mine” and “Haunted” in particular. What are your favorites?
