Charmed was not a show I followed from beginning to end. I first started regularly watching it in Season 4 when they introduced Paige. Later, I caught the early seasons with Prue and liked the show even more. It made me sad to know Prue wasn’t going to stick around, since she was quickly becoming a favorite. Yes, there were backstage issues going on; I get that. One of the actors was going to have to go. Still, I think the PTB made the wrong choice. Here’s why:
5) I would love to see Paige interact with Prue. I think there would’ve been a neat dynamic between them. This is especially true once the younger witch decided to get more serious with her training. Imagine two intensely focused witches and their neurotic middle sister. Evil wouldn’t have stood a chance!
4) Given the future we saw potentially awaiting Prue in “Morality Bites” and how determined Prue was to change her life, she had more to offer story-wise. Plus, Prue was the more complex character given her issues with her dad, her mom’s death and need to take care of everyone.
3) On a more real-life level, Shannon was the better choice, as she was committed to making the show as great as it could be. Her directorial farewell (All Hell Breaks Loose) is considered one of the greatest episodes of the series. Plus, she was helping to push the show in a darker direction I thought really suited it.
2) Piper and Prue were basically supporting the house. Without Prue around, they would complain more about money issues. At let’s face it- when you have demons consistently destroying your house, you need the money. Bad.
1) Prue was not likely to get obsessed with her on-again/off-again demon boyfriend. Phoebe’s obsession with Cole nearly got them killed more times than I can count. The Cole plotline is also one of the fandom’s most hated storylines.

Agree 100%! Pheobe’s character development was such a let down to me, the producers continuously played off her having a passive power or being the younger sister (until paige came along) and this is honestly what I felt stopped her ability to grow as a character because they tried to hard to make her the “weak” sister without even taking into consideration how it would affect her character. I don’t blame alyssa though, I blame the producers who could’ve gone and done so many ways with phoebe but chose the most basic storyline ever: “Im weak, and thats my thing”, did it bug anyone else that all the other sisters had great power advancements whereas phoebe literally only got the ability the FLOATTTT like woooowwwwww.. #letdown. If having prue’s character killed off was a necessity then they should’ve made up for it with phoebe because alyssa and shannyn were the ones with problems so it would make sense to have alyssas character “pick up the slack” if you get what i mean. Also, Im totally for this whole PruexPaige badass duo because could you imagine them together?! they would’ve been amazing!!! – I very much wish paige and prue had gotten a chance to have met, i Imagine it would’ve been great albeit a little nerve racking for paige in the beginning but she would’ve of course gotten over her nerves and seen how alike prue and herself were 🙂 All in all, prue should not have been the one to die.
Oh, yeah… they would’ve totally been amazing together, and I agree that they should have made Phoebe pick up a lot more slack, especially when she caused so many problems. Going evil, for example? lol.
I’m going to tell you my very different opinions on some of your reasons. First, I been watching charmed from the beginning to end I watched it yesterday,its my favorite show. Phoebe is my favorite character. I agree on your first point I would like to see Paige and prue but I think morality bites was all about phoebe. Prue was shown a life she hated, yes she’s the oldest an bravest but I liked that Phoebe had a good an evil struggle. Her regret of killing cal Greene made me relate. Especially because phoebe is rebeliojs. Besides the point I heard Alyssa Milano an shannen Doherty did not get along from the beginning as shannen was “hard to work with” on Aaron spellings 90210. I also found it funny you said the episode when prue was fired was the best one. I feel phoebe made the show dark when she turned evil which was more than once an phoebe had not the best powers compared to prue but my favorites wete when she got firepower as the evil queen. Cole and phoebes storyline is ny favorite actually so I don’t know how accurate you are when you say its the most hated because I love phoebe an cole an can relate. Even though cole is evil he always held on because he loved her.random but Also I wish Andy did not die. I agree phoebe at first had np car or job but went to school yet prue an piper did but Paige did have jobs as well. Phoebe got her columnist job an stuck with it. Which provided her with a lot of money and fame. Prues love life was interesting especially when she married a demon in her sleep nut I love phoebe an coles relationship. Phoebes my favorite she’s beautiful an a great actress to work with.

I just related a lot more to Shannen’s character and felt like that were pushing a whole “she can change him” too much. Plus, as I said in another comment, I think Shannen gets too much of a bad rap. Was she difficult? Likely. I just don’t see Spelling hiring her again if it was as bad as some acted like. I remember people who joined 90210 later coming out and saying that Tori and Jennie were not exactly welcoming. To me, that says other people contributed on some level to those problems on the set.
I despised the character of Phoebe, especially in the later episodes. I think that Shanned should have stayed on and they should have gotten rid of Alyssa. The direction the show went in after Prue left was bland, goofy, and not able to take seriously at all. Btw, I heard that Alyssa and Shannen fought because of a love triangle between them and Julian (Cole) and because Alyssa began to cry and complain about not being front and center in everything the way Shannen was because she was the most powerful witch between them.The beginning of the series was dark and serious with more emphasis on the sisters relationships and fighting evil. Bringing in fairies and leprechauns and nymphs was so lame and ridiculous. Turning Cole and Phoebe evil after everything they fought for to be together was unrealistic and it was an attempt to have the audience dislike Cole since he was leaving the show for Nip/Tuck. It didn’t work. Everyone still loved his character and was rooting for him the whole time. If it did anything, it caused people to dislike Phoebe because of the *unt she became towards him. Piper and Leo having kids was okay but they should have kept the kids barely in the storyline, just enough to know they were still around. Making Wyatt this oh so powerful child like some kind of second coming of Jesus was so stupid. Everything was dumb after Shannen left. The fourth season wasn’t too bad in the beginning but that show just went horribly downhill and it was because they got rid of the wrong actress. It should have been Alyssa. If taking your work seriously is a sign of being hard to work with then Alyssa shouldn’t be an actress if she can’t handle one who actually wants to put effort into the show they were on instead of being the star of it for the attention.
I remember being on a celeb/pop culture board or two back then where the audience there absolutely *hated* Pheobe and her relationship with Cole. It’s sad what they allowed the story to turn into, because the hate there just got worse.
As for Shannen, can’t agree more! She’s a total badass talent, and horribly missunderstood. Any time I see people speak badly about her in relation to her exits from this and 90210, I just think, “Well, she couldn’t have been that bad. She was hired by the same guy again.” I also find it interesting that a similar drop in quality happened once Shannen left 90210 as well.
I disagree, phoebe’s character was more likeable. and alyssa is just a better person to work with, shannen has always been a complicated lady

I started watching Charmed from the beginning and became an immediate fan. I know Shannon was renowned for her tantrums and difficulty getting along with other actors but the fact is she was a superior actor. I think the music tracks were superior while Shannon on the show and the dynamics between the characters of Prue and Phoebe made the show more interesting. Their very real rivalry may have been what made it so real on stage.
I dearly love rose McGowan, a marvelous actor, a beautiful woman and a great forth sister but the show suffered with the loss of Shannen Doherty. I continued to watch the show to the bitter end but it never reached the high standards that were obtained with those first three seasons.
Agreed– Shannon is an awesome actress and I do think that the show was better during her run as well.
I kinda disagree, cause phoebe is my favorite sister. but prue was my second favorite sister. in fact, I loved prue and phoebe’s relationship, it was realistic cause it wasn’t perfect. I wish none of them had died and that paige didn’t exist
Definitely, in a perfect world they would have all survived until the end.
True, but it would make her the worst big sister in the world to let her baby sister die; remember what a wreck she was when Piper got shot Prue was too good, so she bit the dust. Ever hear the brightest candles burns out the quickest? Well in Season 9-10 (comic) Prue returns and acends as a reward.
I agree that Prue would’ve done anything to save Pheobe or Piper. I just would’ve preferred, story-wise is Prue had been the one who ended up living after they were attacked because I felt Prue was the more likeable and complex character. Plus, Pheobe technically even put them into that vulnerable position by traveling to the underworld to help save Cole, a move that never paid off. No matter how often she tried, Cole just could not be “saved” from himself and I feel she put herself and her sisters in danger regularly for him.

My thoughts exactly! And I always find that Phoebe gets the ‘best light’ in many episodes; she will be the one that denies opportunities or delays moments where issues can be solved easily, and be the one that gives her permission or manages to save the day at the end, making her more as the hero. I get it, people have to learn from their mistakes, but how many times do you need? One of the episodes that rubs me off the most is the one where Piper wants to get married. Instead of supporting the sister she so called loves, she rejects, then gives her blessing? urgh. And even though her reason is that she fears for their lives because they will be crossing the line, I feel its more because she fears losing her power. Its so comforting to find somebody that thinks of Prue this way too =)
Glad to help. LOL. And amen to that. Pheobe had quite a lot of those moments, and she always seemed to get a pass– like, it was horrible and wrong for Paige to try and help that woman who was fighting her abusive ex in court because it’s “personal gain”, but no one seemed to care that Phoebe used magic to try and decide whether or not to marry Cole.
I’m sorry to say this,I love Paige but the first three seasons with Prue were the best,the dynamic between the three of them was perfect they had chemistry and you could see that they are sisters and it shined through when they were on screen but with Paige they had to adjust understandably but that sisterly bond and dynamic never came to be,Phoebe and Paige are a lot alike and I always saw them as the two youngest Halliwells and Piper became super bossy when Prue was alive it just made sense,she was the eldest Piper the middle child always the peace maker and Phoebe the free spirit I guess I never got closure over Prues death on the show cause I liked Paige but as soon as I watched the first three seasons I loved Prue and I hated the fact that after the fourth season it was as if Prue never existed so that much is obvious that when Shannon Doherty left the show it wasn’t on good terms,I mean how does she go from directing ‘All hell breaks loose ‘ to the sloppy death of Prue.
Agreed, Ras. The show had a different energy with Prue on it and she most definitely did not leave the show on good terms. I remember Holly Marie Combs talking about being furious about the way the whole thing was handled. If I remember correctly, Shannon was out of the country promoting the show when she got the news she’d be leaving.
Apologies for the late way late response No wonder it explains why Shannon never allowed her image to be used in the later seasons and apparently she and Brad Kern butted heads a lot and she wanted the show to stay on a dark tone and not be all commercial and light.
Piper was always my favorite Pru would be second I didn’t care for Phoebe much at all. I felt she acted to much like a teenager and when here voice got loud it was like nails on a chalk board. The show could have been so much better and darker if they had kept Pru. So to complain about Phoebe so much but all of the failed episodes about her love life sucked so bad this man is evil cry cry stop picking evil men. I couldn’t stand the Cole thing he’s evil he’s good I love him but no I don’t the Pheobe charater s yup cked
Yeah, I think a lot of my issues with the character stem from her relationship with Cole. I don’t mind messed-up relationships, but I do mind shows that portray these messed-up relationships as something tragic and great.
Well i watch charmed since the begining till the awful end and i always been a full fan of the show and the sisters but my favorite character always been prue i guess she was the most complex and interesting character in the show not only for her power but her personality too she do a lot of sacrifice the best of the family and her sister and never say anything about it she always in charge of her sister and take the fault of everycase the Police have and everything to protect her sister and their secret im personally dont liké the way she die in season 3 final is most sad thing is happend in the entire series and the way she never explain what happend and she never appear again i liké paige but never compare to prue and the way the series was With the three original sister it was awsome cool funny and interesting the chemical their had with prue never been the same with paige and i dislike the end not only cause i dont liké the storyline but their bring back all family member except prue she was the eldest and most importan character and a charmed ones too And if it were not for her them they are not alive but i wish to watch how the prue character was develop her personality and power she was the best and the thing their barely remember her after all the things she done for their and tecnically die for save her sister and tecnically her die is faunt if because if phoebe been With her sister and none With cole she could save prue and piper life i wish she never go and prue meet paige and hope they do a movie and bring back prue and all her sister 4

looove Prue all the way! my favorite character among sisters. next is Piper and then Paige. I least like is Phoebe. Her character is so carefree that sometimes she‘s acting childish especially when it comes to Cole. I like Cole but, in my opinion, they should have paired him with Prue instead of Phoebe. I think Prue can manage him more like what she did with the others like that warlock turned priest. besides,
Agreed. If they had to hook up any of the sisters with him, it should have been Prue. She was the one who’d be able to handle it.
I don’t agree. The whole point of Pheobe being with Cole was that she was carefree and that is why they had her be with the demon. We all know that Prue would have had more common sense to be with Cole for the fact that he was evil. I did enjoy the show more with Prue, but Paige brought a change to the show that wasn’t all bad. It made for an interesting change that was kinda cool for the story line in itself.
I agree that Pheobe was the most logical of the three sisters to end up with Cole, and certainly have no issue with the story having happened at all. What got me, and what I felt really hurt Pheobe as a character, was that she just ended up going with it all. I personally have a hard time getting behind a character that will continue seeing a guy that she knows tried to kill her and her sisters, and actually went to far as to go back in time with the intent to wipe out her whole family line. I have issue with her going along with Cole being The Source as well. She showed a lack of morals, and a selfishness that was destructive and ultimately led to her sister dying.
besides, Prue and Cole got great chemistry or should I say the actors who played them. like the ep. ‘the good, the bad and the cursed‘. the writers should have taken advantage of that and give Cole a better story arc or angle than the demon on a loose or demon in lovelust. Prue and Cole are sort of yin and yang. they sort of balance each other out. thats only my opinion looking forward reading
their story in charmed comics.
I completely agree. Part of the reason why Shannen and Julian has such great chemistry was because they had a brief fling while filming together. There was a lot of sexual tension between them, especially in that episode.

I love Phoebe so much and Cole I think the story line was great, yes Prue was good and no I did not want to see her go. I love Piper and Paige they all was great and Leo the mother and father and grandmother but Phoebe is absolutely my favorite my only complaint was the last to episodes it could have and should have been so much better no action nothing and to have two sisters be the ultimate power was so foolish after the source, zanku and so many other demons they pick these to sister to be the ultimate power no Leo they took him the last 10 episodes but for sure Phoebe and the Mother was the best of the best. I know I am late but I am a true fan of Charmed
The issue that I have with anything past season 3 is the very fact that in the end Prue died for nothing. Phoebe made the foolish mistake of going to the underworld knowing that it would leave Prue and Piper without the power of three to vanquish shax. She died because Phoebe had to go save her demon boyfriend. True Prue would have fallen apart and the guilt of losing Piper or Phoebe would have been intensely hard to get past for her being the oldest and had literally taken care of her sisters since after their mom died. Prue is and always will be my favorite character and the fact of the matter is that she had died in vain because Phoebe was willing to take the chance on losing a sister to keep her boyfriend. Then she has to turn around and vanquish him not once but twice between seasons 4 and 5. If anything Cole should have been vanquished in the end of season 3 and the sisters should have moved on cause then Prue died for the sake of a relationship that not only did she disapprove of, but she died for the sake of a relationship that was never going to last. They did Prue dirty and I despise Phoebe for that specific reason.
Exactly! It was such a reckless move, and we were supposed to be for it and her relationship with Cole. No one, as far as I remember, really held her accountable for that. And I don’t remember Phoebe feeling too guilty about her choice.
Phoebe is my very favorite character, she is so full of life, is a magnificent actress, and it so beautiful. Phoebe and Coles storyline was great it may have been my favorite love story of them all. Prue was great also and I still like her much more than Paige. Besides the point, Phoebe has always been my favorite, Prue second, Piper third, and Paige is fourth and I don’t much like her at all.
I totally agree with you right now! I honestly only just started watching the series on Netflix and I just watched the last episode of season 3 “all hell breaks loose” and I literally cried when piper ‘died’ and prue and Leo’s reactions were so emotional and relatable. I read through the description of the first episode of season 4 and when I realised that prue was killed off j was so upset! I didn’t even realised how much I liked her character until now! I think that both Alyssa and shannen are equally good actresses I just wish they could have found a way to make it work! I feel like the show won’t be the same! Also I read online somewhere that when Shannen left, so did Constance (the writer), again I haven’t watched the next season so I’m not one to judge but I loved the way the previous 3 season were written and played and (don’t judge me) but I’m kind of worried I won’t like the show anymore now that loads of stuff has changed!

No worries. 🙂 Honestly, as I mentioned, Season 4 was my first full season of the show so I could be a bit biased in my opinion. LOL. Still, I have to say that, despite some issues that I won’t go into for spoilers, I felt it was a great season. I absolutely loved the way they handled the aftermath of Prue’s death and Paige’s journey as she steps into this strange world she knew nothing about. I think that the seasons after that get progressively worse. The series was SO much better with Prue in it.

Oh gosh I disagree so much. The first three seasons aren’t that great to be honest. Prue was awesome first season but I feel like she didn’t have any storyline afterwards – no real love life, no real job (yeah she took photos once in a while ). I was actually really sad with what they did to her character. And by the way, everybody loooooves Cole. I don’t know if it’s just in France but he’s adored, on TV Show Time (the app) everybody keeps talking about Cole and Phoebe. So most hated one ? I don’t think so. But I really get why people love Prue, I just don’t.
I agree with Prue being awesome in season 1, but I disagree that she had nothing after. She still worked at the auction house and had many romantic storylines (including Andy in season 1, and fellow employee Jack in season 2). Granted, she did flounder for a bit (especially in the second season), but she wasn’t totally idle, and it led to her becoming a professional photographer. I think she had some of the deeper, more complex storylines in that she would feel the pressure of being the responsible, oldest sister. She was the one most affected by their mother’s death, and she has that storyline dealing with her father. I think she brought some emotion into the show and helped to keep things grounded in the show being about three sisters who happen to be witches. It felt like that original spirit was lost after.
Also, I liked Cole. I thought he did a great job, and I never really thought he was that hated. Most of the hate I saw here was directed at Pheobe.
I loved Prue and agreeed that the show wasnt the same after her death. It just sucks that the show moved on from her death so quickly. I mean c’mon, the sisters grew up together all their lives, and suddenly their sister died. They barely grieved and then just forgot about her existence after Paige moved in. I liked Paige, but I wished shannen never got fired because she def had better chemistry with piper and phoebe and she was a great actress.
Totally agree with the chemistry. They were great together, and it’s a shame that things could not be worked out behind the scenes. I both agree and disagree with some of the rest. As I think I mentioned in here, Season 4 was my first full season of the show and I was impressed right away with Piper’s storyline. I think she grieved pretty realistically, and for more than just one or two episodes. I also thought that played out nicely in her interactions with/relationship with Paige throughout the season as well. For her, it wasn’t instant sisterhood and “Prue who?” I totally agree with you from a Phoebe standpoint, though. I didn’t feel the same level of grief from her. Actually, I barely felt any, and that really bothered me. It felt like the real-life stuff seeping its way into the character and how the actress played it out.
Totally! Seasons1-3 story arcs were heading from a lighter storylines to a more darker bad-ass storylines and the characters gradually developed to a new and better versions of themselves as the learn lessons about wiccan ways until Prue died. They tried to salvage season 4 with a “new sister” Paige and done well but focused more on the sisters lovelives than their development as witches until the male version of Prue (Chris Halliwell) came along which has much a better story arc until they introduced the “duo” of Billie and Christy which is a big disappointment. It’s crazy! Why bring in new characters which are irrelevant when they could have brought back Prue which is the current Charmed Ones eldest sister and continue the original story arc and/or develop a new story arc let’s say a new prophesy surfaced of four powerful sister witches and new range of demons instead of bringing in titans, more neutral beings like avatars and such and a brainwashed witch. After all, in the beginning of Charmed it says the sisters will battle a whole lot of demons. Why Supernatural has neverending battle with demons. Charmed was heading downwards when Prue died that’s the saddest truth. Just saying.
Agreed. I understand they needed to make changes due to the loss of Prue, but I think it was a bit late to add characters like Billie in the least season or so. I think 90210 was a great example of how to handle new characters (at least, in the case of Janet). They added Janet slowly over multiple seasons instead of what Charmed did with Billie. It gave the viewers time to accept the character, instead of just throwing them right into the mix.
I belong to a site called “The Charmed Cafe” that is the only place that still chats about the show on a daily bases. So if you need a Charmed fix, that’s the place to go.
I have been at the Cafe off and on since 2008 and when I returned this time I was surprised at some of the fresh and interesting comments that are still being made. Prue is a major issue and is the reason I got involved in the first place.
I think both the actress and the character were slammed, and I find that unacceptable. This is by no means a slight on Rose, but the loss of Prue to me sent the show on a downward spiral. As one member stated, in the early days it was a story about 3 sisters that just happened to be witches and became in later seasons a tale about three witches that by the way are sisters.
Kern’s imagination changed Charmed from being a heartfelt creation of 3 young woman trying to balance personal lives while helping others, into a demon of the week disease. Instead of life deals with magic it looked more like magic to magic and oh yeah, lets add some more power. Thank you, for that I’ll switch to Home Improvements
I like Alissa as Phoebe and couldn’t see any other actress in the roll, but she was the indulged spoiled kid sister, who in the beginning didn’t carry her load. Piper the peace maker was ill-equipped to deal with this ….once Prue was gone there was no fixing this.
Regardless if Alissa agrees with this, her character needed Prue, as she was the loose cannon. In “Pardon My Past” it is her essences that gravitated to the dark-side. She did this again with Cole. Ah, a sign of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results.
I would like to think that if Prue had lived the outcome for Phoebe might have been different and hence maybe an easier road traveled for what should have been the youngest of The Charmed Ones. .
Great point on how Pheoebe’s past selves were evil. She just kept falling into the same trap, and it usually had bad consequences for the others. I also completely agree with Shannon and her character being treated badly at times. I noticed a similar thing on 90210, where it was a bash Brenda fest. Granted, Charmed did a much better job keeping most of the personal animosity out of the writing, but you could still see it in the acting, and how Prue was treated in that one episode where Paige sees their pasts.
I started watching the show when I was 13. I started it from season 4 and on. I used to think “It can’t get any better than that” then of course later on, I watched seasons 1-3 on the internet and realized what greatness it was! You cannot compare Prue seasons with any other season- and I’m stressing the fact that I started watching and loving the show from season 4, nevertheless, Prue years ROCKED! Piper has always been so close to my heart, but I really loved Prue. The strongest, the best, the selfless yet a bit cocky sometimes, but can you blame her? She was throwing herself to danger everyday for her sisters, she was the mother figure. Ok, I’m stopping I just loved her so much. I was devastated when she died, even though I had already watched the rest of the show. Now.. I never really liked Paige, and Phoebe got on my nerves for so many reasons. I only liked her because of Cole. I remember crying when he died haha poor me.
First of all, the real sister bond was clearly there in seasons 1,2,3, and then it seemed like they just had to act like they were sisters, only because of the witchcraft.
They never said “I love you”, they never had that chemistry, that bonding, it was as If it was forced. I actually wonder how they managed to keep their powers, because we know their powers were rooted to their bond as sisters.
Now above everything I don’t like about the selfish and not at all impressive-powered Phoebe is that she abandoned Piper in her time of need twice!
1) When Piper was recovering from Prue’s death, she once again chose Cole, abandoning her family. I know she came back but Piper was a wreck.
2) When Leo got frozen, she decided to move out.
I don’t know, I just think she never grew up, she was all full of herself.
Oh last but not least, I’m not even gonna go the fact that they wiped Prue off the map, when she died. I know about the backstage drama and all but for God’s sake, she was your damn sister. 1. Grieve properly (apart from Holly’s tremendous but short acting), 2. mention her a bit more even if you had to use another actress at flashbacks. pictures and stuff.
Sorry for the long post, I ADORE the show, I just felt like it had some major errors which I now being an adult and all, and having watched the show 100 times, realize.
P.S. I’m not even gonna comment on the Billie- Christie disgrace. Oh and the Sex and the City part.. Well Done Brad Kern! It was hard to believe it was the same show.
I think there were complications with using Shannon’s image at the time, which is why the Prue in one episode isn’t seen fully. 😦 I do agree, though, that they could have done way better with handling the aftermath of Prue’s death over time, regardless of what issues had happened. And I can’t agree more about the show being so much better early on, to the point where it doesn’t even feel like the same series. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
I love this. I always wished Phoebe had died instead of Prue, I was heartbroken when they killed her off. Phoebe, in my opinion, is the worst of the 3 sisters and possibly my least favourite character on the show. Prue was strong, smart, beautiful, and responsible. Phoebe is…. Phoebe. Paige would have been able to replace phoebe so much better than replacing Prue. Now there’s no strong lead. Shannen is one of the best actresses the show could ever hope to have, and it makes me so sad that they just canned her because Alyssa Milano couldn’t be an adult. Sometimes you have to work with people you don’t like or people who don’t like you. Grow up! Grrrr
So agree with you. I also have to add that I feel bad for Shannen. She gets a bad rap (and maybe somewhat deservidly so back in the day), but I really do think the show was so much stronger with her. Plus, why would Spelling hire her again if she was really so horrible? Let’s not forget the women who came on 90210 post-Shannen who mentioned being given trouble on the set by some of the remaining originals. Was she easy to work with? Maybe not. Was she the whole problem? Not even close, and I’d say her contributions were worth keeping her.
There’s just one thing I don’t understand: these are three young women; why all the baby talk?

Can’t stand Phoebe. Loved Prue. I stopped watching after she died.
I wish I had actually watched the show more during Prue’s run, as her era has most of my favorites, and was much stronger.
The challenge is that, if they’d killed off Phoebe instead, the new sister would have inherited HER powers. Paige would not have been this Paige if Prue were still alive because Prue would have the power to move things. Paige’s power manifested differently because of her white lighter heritage, but it was, in essence, the same as Prue’s: the ability to move things with her mind. It’s how the charmed ones were constructed: One to move things, one to freeze, one to see the future. So Prue and Paige, as she was, could not coexist.
Having said all of that, I’d take Prue over both Phoebe and Paige if given a choice. The show just got silly over time.

Pure was my favourite. I would have loved to see the show continue on with her. Her character arch seemed to be more developed than Pheobes, which made her role appear to be three dimesional and relatable in comparison.
So true. There was so much they could have explored yet with Prue, as the one who was the oldest and most able to remember their mother. It made her different than her sisters and added a bit of darkness.
to be honest i never liked cole, since he first came on the show i didn’t like the relationship they had him play with phoebe. and phoebe being the more “emotional” one (like her powers suggest), all she ever did was put the sisters in danger. i was happy when cole finally died.
Agreed on that. I love how they keep pushing guys who are clearly not good on women in these shows. I get there’s good drama to be had, but in that case, it was at the expense of the character. Made Phoebe look stupid and childish.
