Looking forward to new episodes of The Voice, Nashville and The Americans tonight. 🙂 In the meantime, let’s talk Monday’s episode and fill you in on what the Jennings are up to…
Jeff Lewis gets my vote for one of the more unique performances of the night with his version of “U Got It Bad” by Usher. Not only was he brave enough to attempt an Usher song, but he completely changed it up, giving the track a rock vibe that really worked.
Sasha Allen performed “Not Ready To Make Nice” by the Dixie Chicks. I loved her tone, and she definitely added some great notes in there! I love the break in her voice as she sang the first line of the chorus.
Finally… there was Mary Miranda. I am a huge Selena fan and love this song, so she got big points in my book by choosing it. It takes a lot of guts to do a Selena song, considering what an amazing vocalist she was and I think Mary held her own.
What do you guys think of these contestants? Did you have any other favorites? Tell me about it in the comments. 🙂
Now? Let’s talk The Americans. They upped the emotional ante this week in a couple of ways. First, Phillip and Elizabeth tell the children they’re taking some time to themselves. You can just imagine how well that goes over… Paige blames Elizabeth, while her brother becomes moody and keeps to himself for the most part.
Adding to the emotional chaos is Phillips becomes forced to kill an Agent Adulterer’s partner, causing him to join in on a revenge mission. His dark side takes center stage as he defies an order to kidnap a KGB agent before doing something I didn’t quite see coming.
This was a huge step up from the last episode and, no matter what happens with the Jennings, the show seems to be giving us that stability I was starting to look for while throwing the characters into the unknown. The acting was great; I really felt Paige and Henry’s pain over the separation, while also actually feeling for Agent Adulterer for a minute. Not only that, but it upped the tension for both sides on the spy world. What more can you ask for?
Did you enjoy this episode? Hate it? Haven’t seen the show yet? Comment and let’s chat about it! See ya next time! 🙂
