If life stayed the way it was, and lovers never fell out of love, if memories didn’t last so long. If nobody did nobody wrong. If we knew what we had before it was gone, if every road led back home this would be the very last country song.
This is one of my favorite songs by Sugarland, titled “Very Last Country Song”. The track is told from the point-of-view of a middle-aged woman spending her birthday going over old photographs and thinking about the people she’s lost and all the other changes her life has brought.
I like this one because it reminds us that change is part of life, whether we like it or not. People get older, jobs change, and sometimes you find yourself doing things you never dreamed you would. It’s okay, though. If you never change, you never grow. You never learn. This song reminds us to hold on to the memories, because they have helped to shape who we are. It also reminds us not to be afraid to move on when the time comes.
Couldn’t find this one on their Vevo, but there are great for the inspirational messages. 🙂 Don’t believe me? Check this one out…
Til next time!
