Pieces (The Breakaway, #2)Pieces by Michelle D. Argyle

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second of the three Breakaway books, and I have to admit to binge-reading this and the third over a couple of days. I was that curious to see how it would all end. Anyway… this book finds Naomi dealing with the emotional aftermath of her kidnapping as she struggles to stay afloat her first year of college.

Even though the relationship between her and Jesse weirds me out, I find myself rooting for them at the same time. It’s a disturbing feeling, but I credit that to Argyle’s ability to make her characters feel like real people. Yes, I was frustrated with Naomi at times, but I like that about her. It means she’s a flawed person, and I think most people would find themselves just as confused and lost after going through what she did.

The writing was engaging, with some great moments between some of the characters.
